Concerned with the future of vanilla

Has vanilla been left for dead? The dedicated vanilla community that has maintained its existence on private servers goes in some ways back the pre-Classic days. This is how our options are now:

It's the Burning Crusade Classic - Although fantastic in what it does, isn't the same as.

-- Classic Era. Non-progressive and sadly, quite dead when compared with private servers. Season of Mastery - Untrue to the original (faster levels, higher drops, speedier progress, and removal of buffs to the world).

Some players appreciate the changes to vanilla made with Season of Mastery, others aren't. Many would likely agree, however that the changes were mostly uninformed. They weren't really changes, but rather unintentional QoL tweaks to increase the appeal of the game to players who aren't experts (which I don't have a problem with).).

I can understand why Blizzard isn't looking to keep hundreds of variants of their games however, excluding players who want Classic the most does not make sense.

1,Classic Era - Non-progressive and sadly, quite dead when compared with private servers.

At the time of Classic and the pre-SoM, there were two FRESH vanilla Pservers. They both died, and they didn't attain a an affordable launch pop. There's a new one being developed and they anticipate a massive five thousand launchers. In the AQ phase, they will have 2k to 3k active players. Classic players require 10kplus mega realm, or "dead "... Classic Era isn't as dead like you believe.

2,Season of Mastery - - Untrue to the original

Release of custom versions for a brief period of time may be appealing to some players. Don't count on FRESH every time to draw a significant number of players. A lot of players have played Classic and don't wish to level and press just one key in MC. If enough time has passed, there is a chance to have a decent Classic vanilla, but it will only be less than the original.

3,Just half-assed

Changes to the QoL to increase the appeal of the game to players who are not familiar with the game. What changes to QoL has SoM has made? The most common was to do raids, and then to keep players to stop them from boosting or botting.

Some bribes included speedier exp and greater resources while farming.

4,However, it is alienating players who had a desire to Classic just doesn't make sense.

The best option at present would be to try playing Classic Era. Following the TBC initial rush, it has recovered and is currently functioning. Be on the lookout for WoTLK new realms. If the player base will dramatically decrease in the first few days of WoTLK launch, then it's just a confirmation that the majority of players want something new but once they have it, they won't need to level up and play the same old games. It's not everyone, but a majority of people.
