I've seen so far are boring and often seem useless
As someone who has played Diablo games since the release of Diablo 1, I think Diablo 4 has a lot more to look forward to.
All vulnerable damage buffs, CC'd, near, far… not a great system. The scaling makes me feel like the battle is still the same. A weapon hit still does xx% of the enemy's health. There are no ups and downs in your mob killing ability. I have never felt so strong.
The graphic detail is amazing, as all the new games have better hardware available for better detail, but the colors are boring. Everything is gray or brown. I like when you can tell enemies are enchanted because they are blue. Damn, I like enemies a different color than the background color. The story is boring. Lilith is a boring "villain" and a boring battle. Inarius completely disappeared; it has no growth and when used it's like "fuck you". Then he rushes out and dumps his followers and does some bad stuff (diablo 4 items for sale on mmoexp.com). I never felt like we were getting close to the enemy throughout the story, they were just always ahead of us until suddenly, crashing, we magically launched ourselves forward. Where are the catch-ups and the saves or the turns? Too one-way. Cheers/Fraser's Lilith has more personality than any other character in this story.
The boss battles are very random. I had a couple of problems where the boss couldn't be defeated with only melee and had to switch from my chosen skills to ranged skills, so it was too easy. Many bosses were so easy that I turned my thumb and waited for the sponge to die without using the potion. How many bosses can you fit in a game that just dropped a puddle of water? Obviously a lot. Spice it up and make the boss spawn minions… again…
The built-in devices I've seen so far are boring and often seem useless. Accessories are a great opportunity to get creative, but no, this is xx% base attack speed. I love upgrading a new character to D3 and changing my skills to match a legendary character I've found. Then 5-10 levels later I'll need/find something new and change things up again. I love fighting the torment and having to be creative until I put together a farming build, a bounty build, or a GR build, and then running those builds is fun and powerful. Admittedly I haven't finished the game yet, so there might be a chance to enjoy it, but I've really lost the desire to do so because I don't feel like my character is improving. Everything is flat. Server issues will embarrass Blizzard. What's the point of beta and stress testing if the server crashes every day after launch? How many years have you been running mmos without finding a server for a new game? Also why should it be mmo? I always play alone or with a friend or two and that's all I want. I don't need someone else to run from time to time. I don't want to team up to run a dungeon. Diablo has never been, and that's part of the appeal.
The lack of QoL features and one more volatility. Quality of life features are things that are being worked out as we go along and are likely to be in the next iteration. Who thought collecting diablo iv gold was fun? Well, D3 has shown us how much fun it is to collect different pets to do this mundane task for us. Why don't you include this in your next game? Oh, maybe we have to buy an extension for that. Maybe it will be a microtransaction? Why remove these fan-favorite features? Must be a take the money. Also, the end of the story directly indicates that an expansion is coming!
Maybe I'm just a tough old man, but after a week this game doesn't call me to play anymore. I find that really sad because I've spent hundreds of hours on each Diablos before that. I guess people who like this walking simulation game should try Goat Simulator. As for me, I'll let you get on with your life with an action movie sidekick saying, "I'm too old for this!"
