It was also a lot easier to wow classic gold
If you were going to call someone out you normally had photo evidence and some witnesses. Especially in the case of ninja looting, it was very rare so when it did happen there were people quick to screenshot the chat logs. It was also a lot easier to wow classic gold determine who was lying and who wasn't simply because every group member was on your server. I won't say it never happened, but I played since launch of BC and most of the time when people got called out there was a stack of evidence against them.
Note that name changes are a back end type deal, so they might fall under the current battle.net options and not the classic server restrictions.I did a name change and server transfer on the first character I made at some point in Vanilla. It was during Naxxramas, so both options were available at least late vanilla.
Depends on the server. I was in a realm where a guy ninja'd everything of Lady Vashj after his guilds first kill (the famous "forgot to swap to ML after P2" issue). He got gkicked etc. A month later he was somehow officer in another guild and got gkicked for ninja'ing off of Kael'thas.
The rest of BC and WotLK was him with his own guild and at least monthly complaints in trade of him ninja looting PuG groups for off-content.
Name change didn't exist back then. Also kiss your friends goodbye because if people figure you just rerolled your new character will be treated the same. Cross realm and lfg killed all this.I think name changing was introduced by the end of Vanilla but I might me wrong. Vanilla and TBC kind of blend together for me sometimes.
That's debatable. You have to be REALLY bad on a large server to get noticed. Like do it 3 times to 3 different guilds or something. You could get away with doing it once. Maybe twice. I know I did it once and other guilds didn't care. Also, no name change services were around yet.I won Baron’s mount during a 45 min Strat run to get the Naxx attunment. It was a legitimate win, we all hit need.
The rage from the other four players was absurd. They each went into trade about how I ninjaed the mount, and how each little flower rolled greed (like that would ever happen) and I was the big meanie that hit need.No one remembers that now (except maybe the other four people who lost the mount) nor was I ever blacklisted. It was fun having paladins run up to me with their “Find Undead” on.
Everything went ok, joined a few guilds and raided with them. Eventually he tried joining one of the big 5 horde guilds, they found out who he was and blacklisted him as well since the guilds had some alliance friends.
Well finding people from classic is pretty rare anyways so I'd guess most of them simply stopped playing. It was by far not as bad as some people make it out to be but it happened and it wasn't very fun for them.To add to these is Shaman solo DME and Maraudon. Bit slower for DME than Warlock but on par with Mage times for Maraudon.
One that I think people overlook is simply fishing for Winter Squid. Winter Squid is 80s each on my server. Between queues of AV as Horde you can fly to Tanaris and fish off the coast. You make around 4.5 casts per minute and pull up about 30% Squid, should be nearing 60gph. Obviously this one is bound by certain timeframes (noon to 1800 server) but it's viable and the value of the fish will double come April.
