NBA 2K22: The Bucks vs. Cuns Cover Star Could Include A Famous Athlete?

Jul-10-2021 PST NBA 2K

The cover of NBA 2K22 hasn't been officially announced yet, but it looks like it's still a few months away for a new game. Meanwhile, the first game of the 2021 NBA Finals will take place on Tuesday. This will bring in a trio of star players who could be at the top of the tournament. This includes the league's two youngest stars and a seasoned leader looking to add the championship to his resume. Will any of these three players be NBA 2K's last all-star athlete?

Phoenix Suns Unveils Two Potential NBA 2K22 Star Players

It's no secret right now that the Phoenix Suns have two All-Star players on their way to the 2021 NBA Finals: Chris Paul and Devin Booker, who have different routes. For Paul, he is an elite point guard and then a close NBA MVP with the New Orleans Hornets. During his career, he was nominated for 11 All Star teams and became the MVP of the match in 2012/13.

CP3 is a ten-time NBA champion, nine-time defense champion, four-time passing champion and six-time interception champion. The addition of the NBA Championship marks the latest in an incredible career from 2005-2006. If he's the cover star of NBA 2K22, it'll be a comeback for CP3. He was featured on the cover of the NBA 2K8 game with the Hornets (below).

It should be noted that Paul is the favorite to win the NBA MVP Finals. It is also part of the new Team USA Pantheon version in 2K22 and has a special agenda. Players must use their new Hall of Fame card to score 25 points and distribute 25 assists in a single game to earn 2000 XP.

CP3 joined Phoenix this season, solidifying a promising all-star team that included sensational striker Devin Booker. The D-Book is just a double star that has finally received the recognition it deserves. He averaged 25.6 points, 4.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds last season. Booker has shown himself to be one of the league's most dangerous goal scorers and has a title shot in his sixth year in the league.

These two players appear to be likely candidates for the NBA 2K22 front page hit. It's even possible that two guys will do it, depending on what 2K chooses. However, Booker would have gotten his first cover if he had a choice, and winning the NBA Finals could help.

Greek Freak also has the potential for 2K coverage.

Giannis Antetokunmpo is a tricky name for a player, but he has made a name for himself as a two-time MVP in the league. The Greek freak, as he is best known, has looked impressive every season he entered the field, but has yet to win the title. It has been an NBA All-Star in each of its past five seasons.

In the 2020/21 season, Giannis averaged 28.1 points, 11 rebounds and almost six assists with a 56.9% field goal. After being injured in the Eastern Conference final against the Atlanta Hawks, Bucks fans are hoping he will contribute to his team's final.

Giannis and Milwaukee Bucks will win the franchise's first title since 1971. If they do that, they will end a 50-year drought and make Giannis one of the strongest players in the league. Will he be able to win a second time as an NBA 2K22 cover star? Giannis appeared at the start of 2K19, making him the first international player to receive this honor.

However, we recently saw EA's Madden 22 cover do something different by adding two Super Bowl quarterbacks Tom Brady (Buccaneers) and Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) to the coverage of the upcoming match. NBA 2K22 can he do something similar? Maybe CP3 and Greek Freak are covered twice? We're definitely excited to see who will be featured on the next cover of the game.

According to this report, there is no one who will follow in the footsteps of Damian Lillard, Zion Williamson and the late Kobe Bryant. With that in mind, it is possible that NBA 2K22 will have more than one cover and different athletes to grace each issue. Stay tuned!

Former cover stars and cover opening date

At the moment, the stars on the cover are as unknown as the opening date. We've already made other predictions for NBA 2K22 coverage, which may have included some of the stars above. Other potential players could be LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Zion Williamson or Kevin Durant. 2K22 may even include the ride of stars like Nets Harden, K.D. and Irving.

The current generation 2K21 cover star was Damian Lillard, and Zion received the next generation cover for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. There was also a Mamba Forever Special Edition featuring the late Kobe Bryant. Lillard was the first of the cover stars announced on June 30, 2020, so we passed that moment to announce the cover of 2K22.

A previous online leak suggested that former and future Dallas Mavericks Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki could get this Legends special coverage for 2K22. Could this mean Luca is getting regular coverage? Rumors seem to suggest such an opportunity for the NBA 2K22 cover star. As far as the future of the league is concerned, Luca is undeniable that he is already a big star and still a long way from the end of his career!
