He also is pretty successful in poe currency

Rudy from Alpha Investments. Didn't expect to see him comment on this. One thing is for sure, he does voice his opinion and he always is loud on it. He also is pretty successful in poe currency his business. He sells trading cards and has a few shops and an online store. He is controversial to some people in the MTG reddit area, but he is successful and has made a lot of good business calls for him.

He used to work in banking so he also knows a good amount of the super shady business practices. When he calls something shady, he speaks from a place of experience, because he was at times the guy drafting those predatory practices.

I believe I've watched a video with him talking about making money off the RMAH in the past. It's what had me subscribed to him. I don't even play MTG, but he's entertaining to watch lol.

Yeah this guy started popping up in my recommendations on YouTube, I don’t even play magic but continue to watch his stuff. How long ago did you play? Because if it was more than a year or two, boy HOWDY is there more you should check out now.

I want to get into the game but I am a loot whore and pick up everything, but since some of the items are so massive my inventory would fill up incredibly fast. Its such a minor thing, but it's the obstacle that tends to make me drop the game.

Oh, I am curious about the endgame summoner build. The last time I checked summoner builds it was about having exploding zombies.

I felt summoners where meh due to only having the exploding zombies as the only path to late game. It's nice to see there's a lot more option. I might give it a spin again after I clear some of my current games.

To be fair exploding zombies were never THE option or the only option to endgame summoners.Summoners have throughout path of exiles history like just in almost any arpg/rpg/mmorpg been able to do all content and on a budget, there's just so many different ways to play it.

The problem with path of exile, like it always has been is that the options for character build is limitless, which is really amazing for replayability (been playing poe on and off since it first was released) but as a new player the amount of information you have to take in is extreme, which is why path of exile always has a problem retaining new players to the game.

The game is complex and the mechanics aren't exactly self explanatory at all times, there is for example a meme in path of exile where you can allocate a skill point (Avator of Fire) so that 50% of your physical and elemental damage is converted to fire damage, and you can ONLY deal fire damage.

There is also a popular and cheap flask that most builds use that gives 20% of your Physical damage as extra Chaos damage, but if you have Avatar of Fire then you can only deal Fire damage so this flask has no effect for you.

Yet we can see that alot of people are combining the two and this is one of the rather easier to understand mechanics.

The game is absolutely amazing and once you've figured out the basics and how the game works you will probably be a PoE player for life, but saying that there is a steep learning curve in PoE is an understatement for sure.

Even a few years ago raging spirit builds were disgusting. Zombies were shit except as meat shields, but holy crap could you abuse the hell out of melee mechanics with raging spirits to cheese end game.

Well there's two options, and it just depends what kind of player you are.You can follow a build guide for your first character, which will at least guarantee a certain amount of success, or you can try building your own.

Either way, you'll probably want a skill calculator handy to plan your build before you get cracking. It helps a lot to spend some time doing the build homework before you start playing.

My advice for anyone starting out is invest more in health (or energy shield) than you think you need, it's not more than you need, I promise.

You certainly need to give it more of a chance. I don't even think that's halfway through the first act. (Most people who know that they're doing only take 10-15 mins to reach that level, and I'm probably being generous).

The passive tree isn't nearly as overwhelming as it seems. You end up pathing to the same general areas depending on your type of build (melee will always go to an area, bows ditto, spells ditto) and 85% of the tree is highways to keystones.

Like the other guy said, I can highly recommend checking out a buildguide, the PoE reddit has a ton of threads with help and tips right now so you should definitely go check that out if you are still interested.

I got to mid game around lv 50 something and act 5 and hit a difficulty spike. The experience penalty turned me off from dying in quick succession and reset my experience bar to empty. I know I need improvements in gear and gems but the amount of research trying to figure out how to improve and losing my progress turned me off. I want to hit the end game so I just need to also suck it up and figure out how to get there lol.

New league starts in about a month too. With this Diablo debacle I expect it to be one of the more successful reddit Path of Exile leagues in a long time. It's largely the same folks, and they're still in the hands of the same team. The Ragnorak Expansion came as a welcome surprise to people who've been all over Titan Quest + Immortal Throne for years and years prior.
