Path of Exile 2: How To Unlock & Use Currency Exchange
The Currencies used in the Path of Exile 2 crafting system let players modify and upgrade equipment with a variety of special effects. Some of the Currencies are extremely common, like the Regal Orb or Orb of Augmentation, while other Currencies are much rarer but offer more powerful effects, like the Exalted Orb, Orb of Alchemy, or Divine Orb.
If you have a stockpile of Currency and want to trade it up for something more valuable, the Currency Exchange is the place to go. Unlocked after completing the main campaign, the PoE 2 Currency Exchange lets you trade one Currency item for any other, depending on the market value of your requested Currency.
How To Unlock The Currency Exchange
And How To Access Currency Exchange Once Unlocked
The Currency Exchange is a feature that players won't have access to until they beat the main campaign once. In the Early Access for Path of Exile 2, Acts 4 through 6 are not available, so to bridge the gap between the end of the current story and the endgame players are sent into Cruel Difficulty.
In Cruel Difficulty, PoE 2 players are essentially in New Game Plus. Enemies are harder, better items drop, and you start from the beginning of Act 1 with everything you acquired by the end of Act 3. When you enter Cruel Difficulty, the Currency Exchange will automatically unlock for use at the Clearfell Encampment (and all future hubs, too).
You can access the Currency Exchange by talking to the Gambling Vendor in town, who will have a new trading option available for the Currency Exchange. Click this to be brought to the Currency Exchange menu.
How To Use The Currency Exchange In PoE 2
Trade Your Currencies For Others According To Market Value
The Currency Exchange might seem a bit convoluted at first, but the basics are not that complicated. Essentially, the Currency Exchange lets you request any item you "Want" by clicking the top-left box and selecting it from the list of all Path of Exile 2 Currencies and related Path of Exile 2 items. Then, click the "Have" box on the top-right to see a list of all Currencies in your possession across all inventories.
When you select an item, the value of the item you "Want" in the Currency that you "Have" is displayed as a ratio. If you have enough of your "Have" Currency to purchase 1x of your requested "Want" Currency, click each box to confirm the value and your offer. Then, press the "Place Order" button at the bottom of the menu.
Your offered Currency will automatically be removed from your inventories, and the item you requested will be displayed in a new menu that pops up after confirming the exchange. Drag the item from this screen to your inventory to complete your trade.
The cost of Path of Exile 2 items in the Path of Exile 2 Currency Exchange is based on the supply of Currencies exchanged by other players. If a lot of players are requesting Exalted Orbs, the price of other items in Exalted Orbs may go down, for example. The price tends to fluctuate regularly, so if something seems particularly expensive to request on the Currency Exchange, Path of Exile 2 players can wait a few hours to check for a better rate.
